For the remainder of 2026, the Leland Area Garden Club’s primary focus is our Bluebird Box Project.

Leland Area Garden Club (LAGC) recently partnered with Brunswick County 4-H members to build the bird boxes, pictured left. Each of the 10 participants assembled two boxes, kept one and donated the other to Senior Facilities. As the project grows, we hope to create an online map showing bluebird box locations throughout the area. 

At a recent Leland Town Council meeting, LAGC President and Founder Bess Blackburn proposed placing a bluebird box equipped with a camera at Founders Park in Leland, allowing people to watch birds build nests, lay eggs and care for their young.

The LAGC plans to sell bluebird boxes as a fundraiser, beginning at the Magnolia Greens annual craft fair on October 17th, 2026.
